Krypton Factor denies Rocket Man in Shaheen

ROCKET MAN was denied back-to-back wins in the Golden Shaheen by the Kieren Fallon-partnered Krypton Factor.
Last year's winner disputed the lead with early pacesetter Giant Ryan and was clear of rivals turning for home.
But the pace had been strong and as Rocket Man's boosters began to fade Krypton Factor, trained by Bahrain-based Fawzi Nass, was well-placed to take advantage and he sprinted clear to score by two and a quarter lengths. Lucky Nine took third.
Kieren Fallon: partnered the winner
PICTURE: Edward Whitaker"Fawzi [Nass, trainer] has just got him to improve and improve since he came from Sir Mark Prescott's," Fallon said.
"He gets better and is tough and wants to win for you. He was equal on figures to Rocket Man and I knew there was more in the tank.
"This is the biggest meeting in the world and it's been a few years since I had a winner here so I'm delighted."
The David Barron-trained Hitchens finished best of the two British representatives in fourth spot. Iver Bridge Lad, trained by John Ryan, was 11th of the 12 runners.
The Factor, a 4-1 shot, disappointed when finishing in sixth. Owner Bob Baffert tweeted: "Poor Factor ran so flat tonight. Pretty tired. Wasn't his day. They put on a great show here."
