TOP two-year-old fillies Date With Destiny and Memory will both bypass Glorious Goodwood next week with their sights set on winning in Group 1 company towards the end of the season.
Date With Destiny was always going to attract headlines as the only offspring of George Washington to pass through the sales ring. A visually impressive debut victory at Newbury delighted connections, who are now dreaming she has the talent of her illustrious father and are targeting the Group 1 Meon Valley Stud Fillies' Mile on September 25.
Trainer Richard Hannon, speaking at a press day on Tuesday, said: "I entered Date With Destiny for the Group 1 Fillies' Mile at Ascot this morning, although she would need a prep-race en route andwe'll look for a Listed race somewhere or maybe the Prestige Stakes at Goodwood or the Sweet Solera at Newmarket."
Memory, who cost a lot less than the 320,000gns connections paid for her unique stablemate, has built her reputation on the track and now boasts an impressive three victories from three starts, including the Group 2 Cherry Hinton last time out.
The Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh on August 29 appears to be the next target for Memory, with Hannon adding: "Memory is looking so much more professional in the mornings, and she has done well since the Cherry Hinton. The Moyglare is the next stop for her as it is a Group 1 and the logical progression."
Both Date With Destiny and Memory remained in the Tattersalls Millions races at Wednesday's forfeit stage. Hannon also has Zebedee, who runs at Goodwood next week, still entered while others of note include the Aidan O'Brien-trained Rudolf Valentino, who was the most expensive lot at 700,000gns, and Zoffany.
Together, who won the Group 3 Silver Flash Stakes and is a three-parts sister to Jan Vermeer, is another potential top-class filly left in the race while Norfolk Stakes winner Approve also remained among the entries.
