Rendezvous to make his return at Wincanton
MELODIC RENDEZVOUS, who missed last season's Supreme Novices' Hurdle after scoping dirty, will make his eagerly anticipated return in the totepool Enter the Ten to Follow Elite Hurdle at Wincanton on Saturday.
The Jeremy Scott-trained seven-year-old has been beaten in just two of his six runs. He landed the Grade 1 Tolworth Hurdle at Sandown last season before dispatching the classy Puffin Billy by nine lengths at Exeter in February meaning he was one of the leading fancies for the Cheltenham Festival opener before his season was brought to a premature end.
"We had unfinished business with Melodic Rendezvous when his season was cut short after a dirty scope last spring," said Scott. "I do find that he tends to need his first run, but from this race we'll find out how good he really is."
Melodic Rendezvous' success last season means he will carry top weight in the Grade 2 limited handicap giving 4lb to the Paul Nicholls-trained Triumph Hurdle runner-up Far West, but jockey Nick Scholfield has chosen to stick with Melodic Rendezvous, who he has ridden on five of his six runs.
"Nick Scholfield has been incredibly loyal with opting to ride Melodic Rendezvous when Far West for Paul Nicholls heads the market," added Scott.
