SATURDAY'S Scoop6 bonus fund was won when Mayson justified favouritism in the Pearl Bloodstock Palace House Stakes at Newmarket.
Last weekend's anonymous £2 punter selected Richard Fahey's colt in the Group 3 event, and the victory took their winnings on the bet into six figures after adding £30,679 to the £71,584 collected originally.
However while one person had good reason to celebrate Mayson's success, it meant the win fund was not won. Only one player managed to make it through to the final leg, but was foiled when Spirit Quartz was beaten into fourth.
Consequently the pools will reopen with a rollover £56,259 next Saturday when the bonus fund starts again at £24,111.
Betfred chairman, Fred Done, said: "It's a feat in itself to win the win fund with just £2, but to land the bonus as well is a massive effort and proves you don't need to spend a fortune on the bet to win a life-changing amount."
A total of £160,740 was bet into the pool, and there were 18 winners of the place fund, each of whom picks up £1,786.
