Twiston-Davies rides first Meydan winner
Report: UAE, Thursday
WILLY TWISTON-DAVIES celebrated his first winner at Meydan as Maltese Falcon ran out one of four winners on the card for trainer Musabah Al Muhairi.
Along with Ali Rashid Al Raihe, he shared the six winners on Thursday evening with Waahy (Al Raihe/Royston Ffrench), a half-brother to last month's Hong Kong Cup winner Akeed Mofeed, landing the opening 1m maiden to open his account at the fifth attempt.
Trainer and jockey doubled up with the smooth success of Ghaamer in the official feature, a 1m handicap. Ffrench said: "Both are young horses with low mileage and, hopefully, open to a lot of improvement.
The rest of the card was dominated by Al Muhairi, who as well as being responsible for four winners, saddled first and second twice.
Maltese Cat won a 7f handicap, before Jamhoori (Thomas Brown) won a mile handicap, denying stable companion Dairam (Paul Hanagan) right on the line.
Al Muhairi then completed a rapid treble with Hattaash (Dane O'Neill) holding on from stable companion Comicality (Richard Hughes) in a 6f handicap to give the trainer another one-two.
O'Neill said: "This is only his second start here in the UAE and he has enjoyed the Tapeta more than he did the Jebel Ali dirt last time. Musabah's horses are in great form and this one had been working well."
Paschendale then supplied jockey Andrew Nienaber with a winner on his first local ride in the concluding 1m1f handicap.
