Discourse works on the Rowley Mile under jockey Antioco Murgia

DISCOURSE took an important step in her preparation for the Qipco 1,000 Guineas when she covered nine furlongs of the Rowley Mile at a steady pace on Wednesday morning.
The unbeaten filly, second favourite behind Maybe for the fillies’ classic, drew away from two galloping companions when she was taken to the front by jockey Antioco Murgia approaching the final furlong. Murgia gave the Street Cry filly a couple of slaps to keep her up to her work.
Sheikh Mohammed, whose Godolphin stable owns Discourse, was on hand to watch the gallop and was satisfied with what he saw. “She has only had two runs in her life so we wanted to remind her of her job,” the sheikh said. Also present on a windswept morning was Frankie Dettori, who partnered the filly on the second of her two starts last season.
Her trainer Mahmood Al Zarooni added: "She worked well and she had a good blow afterwards, she will come on a lot for this run and there's still plenty of time until the Guineas."
The Street Cry filly, between 6-1 and 8-1 for the May 6 Classic before the workout, was pushedout to 10-1 (from 8) by Ladbrokes following the gallop.
A half-sister to Grade I Blue Grass Stakes winner Bandini, Discourse has not run since she won the Sweet Solera Stakes on Newmarket’s July course in August. She is one of a number of three-year-olds Godolphin kept in Britain over the winter.
