Macorville misses Old Newton Cup at Haydock

MACORVILLE, runner-up in the 2007 Northumberland Plate, has been scratched from Saturday's bet365 Old Newton Cup by trainer George Moore.

The son of Diesis, who also finished fourth in the Irish St Leger that year, has not run since coming last in the 2007 Cesarewitch 623 days ago.

 

It is a case of back to the drawing board for Moore, who told racingpost.com: "He didn't eat up, which isn't like him, so we are not taking a chance with him.

"I will have a look at the book [racing calendar] tomorrow to see what there is for him.

"He is bigger and stronger than he was and I am still very, very hopeful for him."
