Easterby in court over hare-coursing allegations
THREE-time champion jumps trainer Peter Easterby will go on trial at Scarborough Magistrates Court on Monday in connection with alleged involvement in hare-coursing events which took place two years ago.

PICTURE: Edward Whitaker/racingpostpix.comThe former trainer, charged under his birth name of Miles Henry Easterby, is accused of permitting land to be used for hare coursing and attending hare coursing events in March 2007.
Hare coursing was outlawed by the Hunting Act, which came into force on February 18, 2005, but many former participants now take part in a permissible sport known as Greyhound Field Trials, which is run under strict rules.
Easterby, has pleaded not guilty to two charges relating to an alleged hare-coursing event at his farm.
Also on Monday, the pre-trial review for the private prosecution brought against Sir Mark Prescott and celebrity chef Clarissa Dickson Wright by the International Fund for Animal Welfare will take place at Scarborough.
The trial will then take place on September 1, lasting four days, when the pair face four charges, to which they pleaded not guilty, including two allegations of hunting hares with dogs at Nunnington on March2 last year, and Amotherby the following day.
