Al Muhairi celebrates fabulous four-timer
Report: UAE, Thursday
Meydan all-weather (Tapeta)
MUSABAH AL MUHAIRI has yet to be crowned champion trainer in the UAE, though he has gone close in two of the last three seasons, but followed up last week's Jebel Ali double with a stunning four-timer as racing returned to Meydan on Thursday evening.
He also trained the runner-up behind three of his winners with debutant Comicality setting the ball rolling under Dane O'Neill in the opening 7f maiden, beating stable companion Muhtaram.
Pat Dobbs rode the runner-up on that occasion but was later aboard the Al Muhairi-trained Chasing Halos who ran on too strongly for stable companion Innocuos in the 1200m handicap.
Stable jockey Wayne Smith, on that runner-up, had not managed a Meydan winner since February 2012 but was in double form - riding the trainer's other two winners.
It was Hazaz who ended the drought, in a 7f handicap before the jockey doubled up on Ramonti Flash, the comfortable winner of a 1m handicap. He was chased home by Mashaaref, also trained by Al Muhairi.
Smith said: "I was hoping for a change of luck here myself so it is great to get two winners but a remarkable evening for the yard as a whole. We were hopeful of a few but to get four, as well as three seconds, is remarkable.
"Long may it continue."
