Cirrus Des Aigles on course for Prix Ganay
France: Ground conditions are likely to be testing for the PrixGanay at Longchamp on Sunday but they hold no fears for connections of Cirrus Des Aigles.
He was among ten horses who could run in the Group 1 event, including So You Think who was second to Cirrus Des Aigles in the Qipco Champion Stakes last year.
Christophe Soumillon rode Cirrus Des Aigles when he beat So You Think but his contract with Mike de Knock led to Olivier Peslier taking over the mount when winning the Dubai Sheema Classic.
"The horse is in great shape and worked well on the grass yesterday," said trainer Corine Barande-Barbe. "He will love the testing ground as he won the Grand Prix at Deauville on it by ten lengths. Olivier Peslier will again be in the saddle."
So You Think was one of three horses left in the Ganay by Aidan O'Brien, together with Windsor Palace and Robin Hood.
Alain de Royer-Dupre confirmed he will saddle both last year's Prix du Jockey Club winner Reliable Man (Gerald Mosse) and Giofra, who stormed home in the Group 2 Prix d'Harcourt. Maxime Guyon will again be on board the much improved filly.
The only British-trained horse still in the race is the Michael Bell-trained Wigmore Hall, who was fourth in the Dubai Duty Free last month and looked to have taken that in his stride when working well on Racecourse Side on Wednesday morning.
Bell said: "Wigmore Hall is set to run in the Prix Ganay on Sunday after which his campaign will be geared to the Arlington Million later this year. We ran him in Hong Kong and Singapore after Dubai last year but he didn't seem to enjoy it over there so we are hoping he will enjoy it better in Paris."
The much-travelled Dunaden has been left in both the Ganay and the long-distance Prix de Barbeville on Sunday but the brilliant six-year-old is more likely to make his first appearance in the Jockey Club Stakes at Newmarket six days later.
