Allied Powers lands Group 3 for Bell

Report: France, Tuesday

Longchamp: Prix d'Hedouville (Group 3)  1m4f, 4yo+

Allied Powers (Michael Bell/Ioritz Mendizabal) won the Group 3 Prix d'Hedouville for the second time in three years as odds-on favourite Solemia endured a luckless trip through the race.

She finished third but was promoted to second in front of Molly Malone, whose rider Gregory Benoist was suspended for two days for hanging into the path of the four-year-old. He was banned for a further day for his use of the whip.

Owned by David Fish and Edward Ware, Allied Powers was well positioned and ran on to seal victory.

"As usual, Ioritz gave him a superb ride and he gets on so well with the horse," said Fish.

"We couldn't give him away as a stallion so decided to have him castrated at the back end of last year when we were running him over trips longer than his best. He won this race two years ago and then went on to take the Grand Prix de Chantilly and that will bethe programme again."

After winning his third race on Allied Powers, Mendizabal said: "He is a credit to Monsieur Bell. I gave him three slaps near the end and this horse has a place in my heart."

Solemia was full of running when snatched up by Olivier Peslier just over a furlong out.

"There was a slow early pace and not being a sprinter she couldn't quicken enough," said Peslier.
