Goldikova: a win in the Breeders' Cup Mile should see her stay in training

BORDER PATROL, unbeaten for Roger Charlton in five starts this year, is set to take on multiple Group 1-winner Goldikova in Saturday's Total Prix de la Foret, after being among the 14 declared for the Longchamp test on Thursday.
Border Patrol had been expected to contest the longer Qatar Prix Daniel Wildenstein, but connections have opted to run the three-year-old in the 7f Group 1, for which he will jump out of three.
Flanking the son of Selkirk will be fellow British raider Welsh Emperor and the Criquette Head-trained Dunkerque in stalls two and five respectively, while star filly Goldikova has been drawn in box 14.
Goldikova's trainer Freddie Head said on At The Races: "She's kept her form well and is in good condition. There are noinvincible horses but she is very well.
"The draw is not great but it should not be a problem and she has plenty of speed for seven furlongs."
He added: "The Wertheimer Brothers (Goldikova's owners) have said if she wins the Breeders' Cup [Mile] she will stay in training next year."
Balthazaar's Gift and the Frankie Dettori-ridden Cat Junior complete the British contingent.
