Eurostar misery ahead of key Arc trials

RACEGOERS intending to use the Eurostar to head to Paris for the three Arc trials at Longchamp on Sunday face a last-minute travel headache after the train operator advised passengers to seek alternative methods of transport.

All services through the tunnel were suspended after an incident involving a Eurotunnel shuttle train on Thursday and it was announced on Friday evening that, until the emergency services have undertaken their assessment of the incident, the service will remain out of action.

Eurostar hope to begin a limited service with longer journey times once the single tunnel that is unaffected by the fire is reopened.

However, with no timescale in place, they are advising all travellers who hold tickets for Saturday and Sunday that they should seek alternative means of making their journeys.

Ticket holders who were hoping to travel on either day are able to exchange their tickets for travel at a later date, or get a full refund.
