Dubai World Cup-bound Planteur won in Listed company at Lingfield on Saturday

Planteur made to work for victory in Dubai prep

Report: Lingfield, Saturday

Blue Square Bet Winter Derby Trial Stakes (Listed Race) 1m2f

PLANTEUR was pushed all the way to the line as he warmed up for a crack at next month's Dubai World Cup with victory at Lingfield.

The Marco Botti-trained star had 12lb in hand of his nearest rival (stablemate Marcret) on ratings and 23lb on runner-up Miblish, but only a neck separated the front two as the 2-5 winner broke the track record by 0.43sec .

Botti said: "We thought we probably would have to make the running but were forced to go a stride quicker than Adam [Kirby] wanted.

"He will fly out just a week before the Dubai World Cup and it will have done his confidence good."

Connections of Miblish gave the runner-up the go-ahead for the Winter Derby on March 17 after his fine comeback run, while BetVictor go 25-1 (from 33) about him for the William Hill Lincoln.
