Lingfield forced to abandon Monday's card

MONDAY'S turf meeting at Lingfield has been abandoned following an inspection on Sunday morning.

The track was found to be frozen, and with further freezing temperatures forecast for Sunday night, officials decided to abandon the fixture.

Neil MacKenzie Ross, clerk of the course at Lingfield, said: "We have had two nights of hard frost and the ground ispretty solid.

"The temperature is forecast to reach a high of +2C on Sunday but we hit +4C on Saturday and the frost did not come out so it is a hopeless situation.

"We are forecast -4C for Sunday night and despite giving the meeting every opportunity we have decided to abandon."

Monday's other jump fixture at Wetherby has also been abandoned, leaving the all-weather meeting at Wolverhampton as the sole meeting in Britain and Ireland on Monday.
