Premio Loco to face 13 in Saturday's Winter Derby

PREMIO LOCO, ante-post favourite for the Blue Square Winter Derby, is among 14 horses declared for Saturday's Group 3 at Lingfield.

He will face the Richard Hannon-trained Cai Shen who came in for major support in recent days and was vying favouritism at 4-1 before a bad draw (13 of 14) saw him driftout to 11-2.

With Richard Hughes serving a ban picked up in India, Jamie Spencer comes in for the ride in the first British Group race of 2012.

Tinshu, around the 20-1 mark, was among the five horses eliminated from the race following the declaration stage on Thursday morning.

Veteran sprinter Borderlescott will face nine rivals in the Listed Hever Sprint Stakes on Saturday's card, while 11 three-year-olds have been declared for the Spring Cup, which also carries Listed status.

The Winter Derby, due off at 3.25, will be broadcast live on Channel 4 as part of its coverage which will take in seven races - four from Lingfield and three from Newbury.
