Husband-and-wife team fail to land Scoop6 bonus

ALL-WEATHER racing may have defied the big freeze on Saturday, but that was no consolation to the anonymous husband-and-wife team from Banbury, Oxfordshire, whose attempt to land the Scoop6 bonus failed when their selection, Tarooq, finished unplaced behind Amitola in the Bet At Blue Square Handicap at Lingfield.

It was also a bleak afternoon for the bet's other players, none of whom survived beyond the fifth leg. Last weekend's winners, however, will not have been too disappointed having already collected nearly £370,000 for just a £2 stake.

The win fund has now rolled over which means there is £67,202 in the pot, while the latest bonus is £187,337.

"The bonus hunters couldn't quite match last weekend's achievements which means next Saturday's bet could be worth around £400,000," said totepool spokesman, George Primarolo.

A total of £192,006 was bet into the pool and there were 24 winners of the place fund, each of whom picks up £188.20.
