The Paul Deegan-trained five-year-old was stepping up out of handicap company and she relished the tough underfoot conditions to edge out the returning Saddler's Rock and Unaccompanied in a thrilling finish.
With half of the field taken out, Eternal Heart under Joseph O'Brien led the quartet along but that one was treading water, literally, in the home straight with the other trio hot on his heels.
The British raider was the first one beaten with Midnight Soprano under Chris Hayes digging deep to get the better of Saddler's Rock by half a length with the odds-on favourite Unaccompanied finishing third.
Deegan said: "She has got a bit of class and is still improving. We decided to take our chance when the race cut up.
"We will probably go for the Martin Molony Stakes at Limerick in a couple of weeks time now."
Saddler's Rock was cut to 9-2 second-favourite by both Boylesports and Paddy Power for the Gold Cup after this encouraging first run since winning the Doncaster Cup in September last year.
Trainer John Oxx said: "I am very pleased. My heart was in my mouth as I knew he'd hate the ground. All things considered he has run a very good race."
