Baharah out to bag Group 1 glory
GERARD BUTLER'S Baharah is out for a share of further riches in Saturday's Group 1 Coolmore Fusaichi Pegasus Matron Stakes at Leopardstown.
The four-year-old has produced three victories this calendar year, starting off at Wolverhampton in January through to a valuable handicap at Ascot in May and finishing off most recently in a Listed race at the same track in July.
She was forgiven two performances in the interim - getting too far off the pace at Epsom before struggling with a quick return in the Windsor Forest Stakes at Ascot's Royal meeting.
Butler, who moved stables from Oxfordshire to Newmarket this season, is not expecting the Erik Penser-owned filly to scare off the likes of Lush Lashes, Listen or Halfway To Heaven but took heart in her last victory, where she beat Barshiba quite stylishly.
"We're ready to run and the only concern would be if the ground is extra heavy," explained Butler.
"She certainly deserves to run, but whether she justifies her place is a different thing as it does look a very strong race.
"Nevertheless she did a good piece of work and I am very pleased with her."
