Aspell springs surprise by announcing comeback
LEIGHTON ASPELL, the consistently successful jump jockey who stunned racing when quitting the saddle nearly two years ago, is set to stun the sport once again after revealing that he is to restart his abandoned career.

The 32-year-old, who shocked his weighing room colleagues, trainers and devoted members of the Leighton Aspell Fan Club when announcing his immediate retirement at a Sunday Stratford fixture in July 2007, is hoping to resume riding at Plumpton on Sunday.
"I'm really looking forward to coming back," said Aspell. "It's something that has been in the back of my mind, and the more I thought about it, the more I decided that I didn't want to find myself in ten years time regretting not having ridden for longer."
