Lame Bluesea Cracker out of Welsh National
BLUESEA CRACKER, as short as 9-1 for Saturday's Welsh National with sponsors Coral, is lame and will not line up in the postponed Chepstow showpiece.
Last season's Irish Grand National winner sustained minor bruising to her foreleg during a routine workout on the beach near her County Cork home, and was ruled out by trainer James Motherway on Monday.
"It was a simple thing. She took a false step and hit her own front joint. We gave her a canter this morning, but she was fairly tender and, after a discussion with my vet, we decided it wasn't the wisest thing to go to Chepstow."
With the Welsh National being Bluesea Cracker's number one target, Motherway had not considered any other races.
He added: "We'll let the soreness and bruising come out of the joint and go from there. There are no plans but she could run again sometime in February."
Bluesea Cracker is a 25-1 chance for the John Smith's Grand National at Aintree in April.
