Cogito fourth as David completes Rosie double
Report: USA, Saturday

FRANKIE DETTORI had a fruitless trip to New York when the Brian Meehan-trained Cogito could finish only a tame fourth in the Jamaica Handicap, in which America's top female rider Rosie Napravnik completed a memorable Grade 1 double on longshot King David.
Napravnik had earlier won the Champagne Stakes on the unbeaten Shanghai Bobby, while trainer Mike Maker also landed a Grade 1 double on the night following the success of Joha in the Dixiana Breeders' Futurity at Keeneland.
Cogito missed the break and then raced six lengths off a slow pace towards the rear of the field. He was hard driven turning for home and could then only stay on without ever threatening the principals in the $400,000 event.
King David was sent off a 28-1 shot, which was hardly surprising as he was claimed just three weeks ago for $35,000.
He caught fellow longshot King Kreesa inside the final furlong before scoring by a half-length in a race where Summer Front must be regarded an unlucky loser after his jockey Ramon Dominguez tried for an ambitious run up the rail.
The favourite Dullahan was never a factor as he switched to turf after his Pacific Classic victory.
King David, who broke his maiden only on May 25, has now won six of his seven starts this term.

After winning her previous two races by a combined total of 26 lengths, Dreaming Of Julia (Todd Pletcher/John Velazquez) duly completed the hat-trick at odds of 1-10 - by a hard-fought head in what amounted to a match race all the way around with My Happy Face. The Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies beckons for the winner, who scored in a time of 1m37.10s.
Dettori's intended mount Roveing Patrol was scratched after getting lodged in the starting gate.

Todd Pletcher's dominance of the east coast two-year-old division continued as Rosie Napravnik partnered 8-5 favourite Shanghai Bobby to an impressive five-length victory over a strong-looking field.
He has now completed a four-timer after stopping the clock in 1m35.55s - significantly faster than Dreaming Of Julia in the Frizette.
After trying to make all, west-coast visitor Goldencents claimed second from Godolphin's Fortify.
The Jeremy Noseda-trained Chief Havoc was last of six, fading in the straight after travelling well on the far turn.
