Kirklees worked over a mile at Sandown racecourse with stablemate Crime Scene and afterwards McEvoy, who rode All The Good to win last year's race, said: "It was a nice [piece of] work that will top him off for Saturday.

"He's a progressive horse and looks like he's going to be able to take up a forward position. It's going to be great putting on the [Godolphin] blue colours again."

The Luca Cumani-trained Cima De Triomphe was also in action at Sandown in preparation for Saturday'srace, the trainer's wife Sara partnering the Teruya Yoshida-owned colt through two 5f workouts.

Trainer David Hayes said he was "shocked" by how well the former Aidan O'Brien-trained Changingoftheguard looked when he went out on the course for the first time on Monday, while Warringah also made his first track appearance since being sold out of Sir Michael Stoute's yard.
