Pether's Moon routs Listed rivals at Kempton

Report: Kempton, Wednesday

Winners Are Welcome At Betdaq Floodlit Stakes (Listed Race) 1m4f, 3yo+

PETHER'S MOON was given a good front-running ride by Sean Levey to land the Listed Floodlit Stakes, powering clear to win by three and three-quarter lengths from the 15-8 favourite Gatewood.

Pether's Moon was sent straight to the front by Levey, who set a moderate pace, with the field happy to let him tow them along. However nothing else ever got into the race, with Levey winding things up round the home bend and kicking off it to lengthen clear of his rivals.

It was a well-judged ride, timed to perfection, with last year's Group 3 Geelong Cup winner Gatewood chasing him home. In a race that turned into a bit of a sprint Pether's Moon showed an impressive turn of foot back at the track at which he won his maiden.

Richard Hannon's assistant Tony Gorman said: "He's a lovely horse and we fancied him tonight. We've always thought he was a really good horse and he'll be stepping up another level next year."
