Kempton abandons Saturday jumps card

KEMPTON'S jumps meeting on Saturday has been abandoned due to frozen ground. The course will stage an all-weather Flat card in its place.

Clerk of the course Brian Clifford took a look at the track on Tuesday and felt there was no chance of being able to stage a valuable collection of races including the Lanzarote Hurdle.

"Saturday's jumps meeting has been abandoned due to a frozen track," said Clifford.

"The forecast did not offer us enough chance of getting a thaw. We will now be holding a BHA all-weather Flat fixture instead."

The new fixture will comprise of seven races, with the opener at 2.15 and the finale at 5.15. Races will close at noon on Wednesday, while declarations to run must be made by 10am on Friday.
