Kempton inspects Friday due to snow threat

KEMPTON'S all-weather 'bumpers for jumpers' card on Friday is subject to an inspection at 8am on the day due to the threat of snowovernight.

The additional fixture is being staged in place of the turf National Hunt card which was originally scheduled at the course and clerk Barney Clifford is hoping the snow stays away.

He said: "There is snow forecast out to the west of us so it is prudent to take a look. It is supposed to fall between 10 and 11pm finishing at three in the morning, it's very hit and miss."

Should the snow arrive, Clifford and his team have the equipment to move it as he added: "Our first race is 2.05 and the guys will be in from 7am.

"We have snow ploughs and blowers ready to go. I want the snow to be -1/2C rather than 1C, it's easier to shift as it sticks to everything when its 1C."
