TETLAMI limbered up for a possible tilt at the William Hill Supreme Novices' Hurdle with an impressive win on the Polytrack at Kempton.

The Nicky Henderson-trained six-year-old eased his way to the front of the field a furlong from home to land the first of five jumpers' bumpers on the stand in seven-race card.

Tetlami had gone into the race as a general 16-1 chance for the Cheltenham Festival opener and although this would be an unusual preparation, such was the manner of his victory that BetVictor and Stan James saw fit to cut his odds to 14-1.

Barry Geraghty had the Susan Roy-owned 1-2 favourite in mid-division throughout much of the race and was sat there oozing confidence on the heels of the leaders when they straightened up for home.

While it looked momentarily as if Tetlami would find himself short of room, he had no problems beating Hard To Swallow (5-1) by an easy length and three quarters with a further three-quarters of a length back to Glenwood Present (100-1) in third.

Henderson said: "He is a very good horse fresh. He has only had two runs over hurdles and three bumpers before today so experience-wise he has not got a lot but he is very professional.

"That went to plan as it has given him a bit of match practice."
