Hereford covers track for Sunday's fixture

HEREFORD is doing its best to ensure that Sunday's fixture will take place as fleece covers have been deployed over the entire track.

With temperatures forecast to be freezing every night upto racing, the course was covered over the weekend, and will remain so until Sunday morning.

Clerk of the course Katie Stephens said: "Everything is being done to get racing on. The covers kept frost out of the ground a fortnight ago, but snow fell on them and froze. So my fingers are
crossed that we don't get the forecast snow this weekend.

"The covers are not a panacea, but they substantially increase the prospects of racing taking place when in the past there would have been no chance."

The going at the course is described as good to soft, soft in places.
