THE former Gerard Butler-trained Pachattack (Graham Motion/Rajiv Maragh) got the better of a duel with Kathmanblu to score by a neck.
The result was a rare reverse for the runner-up's rider Julien Leparoux, who rode a six-timer from eight rides on the ten-race card to equal the track record established by Randy Romero and Craig Perret in 1990.
"It was a great day," said Leparoux, 28. "Coming into today I knew I had a shot but you still have to win them."
Leparoux had a shot at an outright record until Pachattack narrowly defeated Kathmanblu. "I was really thinking I could get it," he said.
"When I could see who was outside of me I knew it was Rajiv so I knew it was going to be a fight to the finish. She ran good for her first race back."
Pachattack took a narrow advantage from front-running Kathmanblu at the head of the stretch before scoring after a drive to the wire on her first outing for Graham Motion following her third place in the Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic.
Leparoux's six winners were Rhonin Victoria, Love Reigns, Rally Point, Sum Of The Parts, Julie's Love and Into The Fray.
