Uttoxeter: course still snow covered on Thursday

UTTOXETER and Warwick on Thursday became the latest tracks to fall to the weather, abandoning their respective Saturday cards after inspections.
Uttoxeter is frozen solid and with the forecast offering no encouragement it was an easy decision for clerk of the course Charlie Moore.
He said: "We still have some snow, and the frost is in the ground.
"Although there is some rain or possibly snow forecast between now and Saturday morning, there is not a sufficient improvement in temperatures to get the frost out which has been in the ground since December 31.
"We would have loved to race with our Blue Square Hurdles Series final but it was just not to be."
It was a similar tale for Warwick's Betfair-backed Kingmaker meeting, as clerk of the course Sulekha Varma tweeted: "course still part snow covered and majority frozen with no prospect of sufficientimprovement."
