Lezcano booked for Euro Charline ride
JOSE LEZCANO has picked up the mount on Euro Charline for her repeat bid in the Grade 1 Beverly D. Stakes at Arlington on August 15.
Trainer Marco Botti and Team Valor ceo Barry Irwin decided to seek out an American rider in the absence of Ryan Moore, who rode Euro Charline to victory in the Beverly D. last year but is out with an injury.
Lezcano also has the call on Triple Threat for Team Valor and Gary Barber in the Arlington Million.
Irwin said: "Jose is riding very well, including a couple wins for us lately. We are happy to have him on Euro Charline."
Lezcano had five wins over the weekend at Saratoga. He scored on Triple Threat by a nose in the Grade 2 Monmouth Stakes in June.
Euro Charline, runner-up in Newmarket's Group 1 Falmouth Stakes in her most recent start, will seek to become the first two-time winner of the Beverly D.
Team Valor's other runner for Arlington Million day is recent Roscommon winner Panama Hat, who will travel over for the Grade 3, $350,000 American St. Leger along with regular rider Chris Hayes.
