Frankel not among Irish Champion entries

LEOPARDSTOWN chief executive Pat Keogh described it as "regrettable" that superstar Frankel was missing from the 50 entries for the track's Red Mills Irish Champion Stakes in September.

Keogh had hoped to lure the unbeaten four-year-old, but owner Khalid Abdullah has instead put four-time Group 1 winner Twice Over and Dubai Duty Free hero Cityscape in the running in his place.

Keogh said: "People will ask me why Frankel is not entered and I honestly don't know, but I really am genuinely thrilled with the entry anyway.

"It's hugely exciting to have the prospect of Khalid Abdullah's other stars running and even more so that the Dubai World Cup winner Monterosso and the Queen's Carlton House could be in the line-up."

The Qipco 2,000 and 1,000 Guineas stars Camelot and Homecoming Queen are also in the running for the race which gains its winner an automatic entry into the Breeders' Cup Turf.

Keogh added that the card would feature a new Listed race over a mile designed to act as a trial for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf.
