Noseda confirms 2010 campaign for Fleeting
TRAINER Jeremy Noseda has confirmed Group 1-winning sprinter Fleeting Spiritwill remain in training next year despite her below-par performance in the Breeders' Cup Sprint at Santa Anita on Saturday.
Drawn from stall nine, Fleeting Spirit, who was fourth in the Turf Sprint last year, failed to get competitive, finishing seventh of nine behind Dancing In Silks and Noseda believes the travel and unfamiliar surroundings may have contributed to her defeat.
Quoted on his website, Noseda said: "I think the draw was a little bit of a problem and feel there are reasons to believe that she doesn’t travel as well as you would like her to.
“That’s twice we’ve gone to the Breeders’ Cup with her now and neither time has she settled into the environment as you’d hope she would, but she will stay in training next year.”
Awesome Act's fourth in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf meant Noseda's journey was not entirely wasted.
The trainer, who also saw Strike The Deal finish last in the Turf Sprint, added: “Awesome Act put up a great performance even though he wasn’t suited by the lack of pace in the race and didn’t quite handle the track as well asyou would have liked.
“But I was delighted with him and he definitely warranted us making the trip with him. It was a bold show.”
