VALBCHEK powered up the Newmarket straight to keep his unbeaten record intact for trainer Jeremy Noseda and jockey Ryan Moore.
The 100-30 joint-favourite scored on his debut at Lingfield last month and stepped up considerably when he secured this valuable prize from Swiss Spirit and Tidentime.
Van Ellis, making his debut for Mark Johnston, looked the likely winner approaching the final furlong but he faded out of contention as the chasing pack swept past.
Noseda said: "He has plenty of potential but is going to have to step up in class now. He could run in the Carnarvon at Newbury, a Listed race the day before the Lockinge.
"Sprinters can take longer than others to find maturity and he will get there in time."
Samitar, who was sent off joint-favourite, led the field at the halfway stage under Jamie Spencer as Valbchek, Balty Boys and Muarrab followed closely in behind.
As Samitar weakened with two furlongs to run, Van Ellis motored into the lead under Neil Callan.
He was quickly joined by the staying on Valbchek but Swiss Spirit, trained by David Elsworth, looked a huge danger as he made rapid headway on the outside of the field.
Valbchek kept on well inside the final furlong to hold off Swiss Spirit by half a length as Tidentime stayed on past beaten horses to snatch third.
Solar Deity shaped well in fourth, ahead of the promising Van Ellis in fifth.

TELWAAR showed an impressive turn of foot to deny long-time leader Bannock and score for Peter Chapple-Hyam and William Buick.
The winner stayed on well inside the final furlong to win by half a length at 9-2.
Chapple-Hyam said: "That was a lovely ride by William as the horse has got one run like that - as soon as he gets to the front he pulls up.
"He's a nice little horse but isn't in the Qipco 2,000 Guineas but is in the French Guineas. The trouble is he definitely prefers faster ground."
Bannock held on for second from Hazaz as 10-11 favourite Zumbi disappointed back in fifth.
