Majesty Bio nails Nakayama Grand Jump
Report: Japan, Saturday
Nakayama: Nakayama Grand Jump (Grade 1 chase) 2m5f, turf, 4yo+
JAPAN'S top jumper Majesty Bio (Tsuyoshi Tanaka/Daichi Shibata) recorded an eight-length victory in Saturday's Nakayama Grand Jump.
With a prize fund of nearly 135 million yen (£1.05m), this idiosyncratic test around a tight figure-of-eight circuit usually vies with the Nakayama Daishogai as the world's richest jumps race.
This year's Daishogai is also advertised with a 135m yen (£1.05m) prize fund - still a bit more than the £975,000 Grand National at current exchange rates.
The five-year-old Majesty Bio also won the Daishogai in December, as well as the Pegasus Jump on March 24 - plus two more graded jumps races in 2011.
Sent off 1-2 favourite for the Grand Jump, he scored easily over Basel River in a race run in testing conditions featuring no overseas competitors.
