JAPAN'S star three-year-old filly Gentildonna (Sei Ishizaka/ Yasunari Iwata) completed the fillies' Triple Crown on Sunday - but only just, as she beat old rival Verxina by a nose.

Cherry Medusa, a 200-1 longshot, was rushed up to the front and halfway and proceeded to take a ten-length advantage only forfeited in the final 50 yards as 3-10 favourite Gentildonna and Verxina charged home in unison down the outer.
The pair had finished first and second in both the Satuski Sho (1,000 Guineas) and Yushun Himba (Oaks), as well as last month's Grade 2 trial for this, and Gentildonna once again held the upper hand as she touched off Verxina.
Both fillies are daughters of Triple Crown winner Deep Impact, with the winner out of Donna Blini, who won the 2005 Cheveley Park Stakes for Brian Meehan.
