Easy trial win for Japan's Dubai hope Victoire Pisa

Report: Japan, Sunday

Nakayama: Nakayama Kinen (Grade 2) 1m1f, turf, 4yo+

JAPANESE star Victoire Pisa (Katsuhiko Sumii/Mirco Demuro) put himself firmly in the Dubai World Cup picture on Sunday with an easy 2½-length victory in his trial at Nakayama.

The four-year-old, seventh to Workforce in last year's Arc, won both the Satsuki Sho (2,000 Guineas) and Arima Kinen, the season-ending championship, at Nakayama in 2010.

Returning to action in the Nakayama Kinen, a Grade 2 event worth 123 million yen (£938,000), Victoire Pisa raced towards the rear before Mirco Demuro produced him on the home turn.

He caught Captain Thule, who also won the Satsuki Sho back in 2008, who just held Reach The Crown to keep second.

"He felt a bit nervous today so I decided to relax him in the rear, getting him to take it easy," said Demuro. "He is very good horse and a good horse to take to Dubai."

Victoire Pisa will leave for Dubai alongside fellow World Cup contender Buena Vista and Japan Cup Dirt winner Transcend, who has an invitation to the Group 2 Godolphin Mile but could yet be switched to the main event. Dubai Duty Free hope Rulership will be on the same flight.
