Crastus off the mark on Dance Fantasia

Report: Japan, Monday

Nakayama: Fairy Stakes (Grade 3) 1m, turf, 3yo fillies

FRENCH jockey Anthony Crastus rode his first graded-stakes winner in Japan on Monday when the Kazuo Fujisawa-trained Dance Fantasia showed early Classic potential in the Fairy Stakes at Nakayama.

Crastus, who is riding with a short-term JRA licence, partnered Dance Fantasia to a two-and-a-half-length victory over Speed Ripper.

The winner was sent off 23-10 favourite in front of Admire Sceptre, who was third.

Dance Fantasia is by 2002 Japan Cup hero Falbrav out of title-holding mare Dance In The Mood, who won the Oka Sho (Japanese 1,000 Guineas) in 2004. Given Monday's performance, Dance Fantasia could be heading the same way.
