Japan: Last year's champion two-year-old filly Joie De Vivre, beaten into sixth as favourite for last weekend's Oka Sho (1,000 Guineas), has a right-leg fracture and faces at least six months on the sidelines.
Trainer Hiroyoshi Matsuda immediately ruled her out of the Yushun Himba (Oaks) after the injury was found following a Friday morning workout.
Matsuda said: "She wasn't obviously lame but her fetlock joint had a little swelling so I gave her an x-ray and the fracture was found. It might have happened in the race."
