Another Grade 1 for dirt star Espoir City

Report: Japan, Wednesday

Funabashi: Kashiwa Kinen (Grade 1 NAR) 1m, dirt, 4yo+

JAPAN'S top dirt performer Espoir City (Akio Adachi/Tetsuzo Sato) has added another major Grade 1 to an impressive cv with a repeat victory in the Kashiwa Kinen, a highlight of the ‘local' National Association of Racing circuit.

The five-year-old, sent off 1-10, took the 102 million yen (£750,000) event by a length and a half over Darley's 2007 Japan Dirt Derby winner Furioso to follow up his victory in the prestigious February Stakes.
