Spencer to ride exciting
Ahern in July Stakes

EXCITING two-year-old Ahern will be tackling a new trip under a new jockey when he contests Thursday's Group 2 TNT July Stakes at Newmarket following his eyecatching Royal Ascot fifth to Reckless Abandon last month.

One of nine declarations - seven of whom ran at the royal meeting - for the 6f event, Ahern is set to be partnered for the first time by Jamie Spencer.

Ahern made good late headway from off the pace after being squeezed up soon after the start at Ascot and trainer David Barron said: "I'm looking forward to running Ahern on Thursday. Things didn't go quite how we wanted them to in the Norfolk Stakes at Ascot. He's a good horse."

Richard Hannon will be doubly represented by Sir Prancealot, who lost his unbeaten record when only fourth under Richard Hughes in the Coventry Stakes, and Alhebayeb, the mount of Paul Hanagan. Sir Prancealot is generally quoted at 40-1 for next year's Qipco 2,000 Guineas.

Ryan Moore rides Aidan O'Brien's representative Gale Force Ten, who finished three places ahead of Ahern in the Norfolk, having enjoyed a much smoother passage throughout.
