Toast Of New York to be supplemented for Derby
RUNAWAY UAE Derby winner Toast Of New York will be supplemented for the Investec Derby, trainer Jamie Osborne revealed on Sunday.
The three-year-old was one of the highlights of Dubai World Cup night at Meydan when providing Osborne with the biggest win of his career, graduating from two minor wide-margin wins at Wolverhampton to taking a Group 2 on Tapeta worth £722,891.57 to the winner.
Osborne will sit down and discuss options with Toast Of New York's owner Michael Buckley, which could include a US Triple Crown bid, but intriguingly Epsom is now a possibility.
Speaking on At The Races, Osborne said: "He will be supplemented for the Derby. It took Jamie [Spencer] until halfway down the back straight to pull him up and his pedigree suggests he'll stay. It's not impossible that he'll get it [the Derby trip]."
Osborne also suggested a return to Meydan next year, but this time with the Dubai World Cup as a target.
Reflecting on the two and a half length UAE Derby win, Osborne added: "After the first 100 yards I was delighted as that was the crucial part of the race.
"One by one they came off the bridle behind him and you could call him the winner from a long way out."
