THE Spanish-trained Casaca (Juan Manuel Osorio/Jeremy Crocquevieille) swooped late to win her first Group event from the favourite Baino Rock (Jean-Claude Rouget/Jean-Bernard Eyquem).

The winning distance was a length and three-quarters and Brasileira was a neck away third. The disappointment of the race was the well backed Bassamba who led into the straight before fading into seventh place.
Crocquevieille rode a patient race on the 16.4-1 chance Casaca who had finished third in the Fille de l'Air a year ago. The pair surged from the furlong and a half marker and swept past Baino Rock inside the final furlong to win with plenty in hand.
The daughter of Medicean had captured the Premio Memorial Duque de Toledo before her third trip to France. Crocquevieille said in the winner's enclosure: "We had a very good run and she has needed time to mature.
"The mare has a lot of heart and a super acceleration. I think she will be retired to stud now. For me, her best performance came at Madrid last time as the race was the Spanish Arc de Triomphe."
