J J to take his chance in Saturday's Starlit Stakes

RICHARD HANNON is leaning towards running J J The Jet Plane in Saturday's Starlit Stakes at Goodwood despite stating that the five-year-old would have a break after a disappointing run in the Betfred Sprint Cup at Haydock.

The former Mike De Kock inmate has failed to build on his Listed success at Windsor in June, however Hannon believes the return to a fast surface, coupled with the expected small field, could spark a return to form.

Quoted on his website, Hannon said: "J J ran no race at all at Haydock, and my initial reaction was to give him a break and freshen him up, but he still looks great and worked super on Thursday morning, so, with the ground riding on the fast side, we'll give it another go.

"Haydock was too bad to be true, but he hated that testing ground. He did win once in the soft in South Africa, but their soft would be firm over here, so it is misleading. He works best on his own,so the small field ought to help him, and, while we still have some fast ground, I'm keen to find out something about him."

Hannon also had news of the Queen's Banks And Braes, who runs in the EBF Buy A £10,000 Racing post Bonus Yearling Maiden Stakes on the same card.

Hannon added: "We'd also have to be hopeful about Banks And Braes in the maiden. He was staying on well over the seven furlongs at Chester, suggesting that he was crying out for this mile, and, though he had a little toe problem which stopped him running recently, he was soon 100per cent again and should go close."
