With just over two furlongs to run, Steve Drowne asked Cityscape to quicken and the colt hit the front entering the final quarter-mile.
Cityscape still had two lengths to spare over his nearest pursuer at the furlong marker but, orchestrated by Soumillon's urgings, fourth-placed Dick Turpin started to charge down the outside, overhauling Cityscape by a short-head to win a second Group 1.
Richard Hannon jnr said: "He looked as good as he's ever looked. There's a few races coming up for him - he's still in the QEII - but we don't want tocommit to anything yet. He's back in good form and that's the main thing."
It was one-and-three-quarter lengths back to Vanjura, who kept on well to take third ahead of the third British raider Fanunalter.
However, those two placings might well have been reversed had Fanunalter enjoyed a clear run when he was looking to challenge approaching the final furlong.

Dagda Mor (Stefano Botti/Fabio Branca) repelled French challenger Poppet's Treasure by a short neck, the pair pulling clear of Rebecca Rolfe and Spirit Quartz.
Dagda Mo made all the running, while Poppett's Treasure was to the fore in the chasing pack. When Poppet's Treasure was asked to reel in the leader entering the final furlong, Dagda Mor rallied willingly and won with a bit more in hand thanthe winning margin suggests.
