Injured Weird Al ruled out of RSA Chase

WEIRD AL, general 7-1 third favourite for the RSA Chase at the Cheltenham Festival, has been ruled out after sustaining a suspected stress fracture of the off-fore cannon.

Trainer Ian Williams told racingpost.com: "It is obviously devastating for his owners, myself and the team. It happened this morning following routine work.

"He is ruled out of Cheltenham but it is not life-threatening or career threatening. He will go to Newmarket at the beginning of next week for an MRI scan and there is no issue for next season."
