Auteui: stages valuable Grade 2 hurdle on Sunday

Solix back in familiar surroundings at Auteuil

Preview: France, Sunday 2.40pm GMT

Auteuil: Prix Leon Olry-Roederer (Grade 2) 2m 5½f, 5yo+

SOLIX will be returning to familiar territory on Sunday afternoon when he has a second start for Ian Williams on the other side of the Channel.

The six-year-old made his debut for the trainer late last month when he won at Fontainebleu and he is off on his travels again, this time lining up at a track he has raced at seven times in the past.

Those outings for Guy Cherel yielded a win and two seconds before he switched to Nicky Henderson where he won two of five starts over fences.

His debut win for Williams marked a switch back to hurdles and the trainer said: "It is a competitive race but his performance last time merits his chance.

"He goes there in good form and it will be on the softer side of good as it always is at Auteuil but he has coped with it in the past."

Jacques Ricou will be on board Solix for the first time today in a race worth a staggering €175,000 with €78,750 going to the winner alone.

The pair will face just seven rivals including Shannon Rock who finished third in a Grade 1 chase here two weeks ago.
