Unbeaten Monami set to return in Diana-Trial
Preview: Berlin-Hoppegarten, Sunday 3.45pm BST
Diana-Trial (Group 2) 1m2f, 3yo fillies
AS the race title implies, this is a major trial for the German Oaks and seven of the ten runners have an entry in that race, which will not be run until early August.
Monami (Andreas Wöhler/Josef Bojko), unbeaten in two starts last season including the Preis der Winterkönigin, is clear best on ratings and is likely to start a warm favourite.
"We were going to run her in the German 1,000 Guineas [next Sunday at Düsseldorf] but she had a slight setback and missed her prep race for that," said Wöhler.
"The main target is the Preis der Diana, so we decided to supplement her for this. It was nothing serious and she is fine now but she might need the race."
Henri-Alex Pantall's Omana (Fabrice Veron) is the only foreign runner. Pantall has a good strike rate in Germany but this filly, last of six last time in a Toulouse Listed race, will have to improve to play a leading role here.
More dangerous could be Nymphea (Peter Schiergen/Andrasch Starke) and locally trained Rila (Roland Dzubasz/ Alexander Pietsch), both of them winners of their only start and each time at this track.
Wanda's Girl (Manfred Hofer/ Mirco Demuro) has also been supplemented, while Rab Havlin has been booked for Paul Harley's All for You.
