The Sir Michael Stoute-trained four-year-old, who races in the colours of Frankel's owner Khalid Abdullah, was fancied to run well in the 1m4f Group 1.
However, a statement on the Hong Kong Jockey Club's website read: "The Club's Veterinary Regulation Department has this morning advised that Sea Moon has been found to have a blood abnormality.
"After discussing this matter with Sir Michael Stoute, trainer of Sea Moon, it has been decided to withdraw the horse from the stated race."
Dunaden, who won the race last year, is likely to go off favourite.
