Sedgefield: officials decided that the wind had eased enoughPICTURE: Jon Winter
High winds not enough to stop Sedgefield racing
HIGH winds that threatened to claim Thursday’s meeting at Sedgefield have abated in the nick of time and racing goes ahead.
Trainee clerk of the course Phil Tuckoriginally decided not to call an early inspection but had warned that any further deterioration could force a rethink.
Shortly before 11am and with the wind showing no sign of dying down, Tuck decided to call an official inspection at noon, just 40 minutes before the first race was scheduled.
After a long, hard look, officials decided that the wind had eased enough for racing to take place, with the first race scheduled for 12.40pm.
